Staying At Home
During this strange time of change and uncertainty I thought I would share my tips on how to adapt to our new normal.
During this period it is important to seek the positives and make good use out of this time at home, perhaps by learning a new skill or language, or clearing out your space. It can be tricky to remain motivated, here are my tips to remain sane durning lockdown!
1. Set a Routine
Keeping structure and routine to your day is so important. For example, waking up early, with it being lighter in the mornings it is super easy to get up and start your day. Get up and do a home work out or practice yoga, don't roll over and immediately start work from your laptop. Get ready - I have still been doing my hair and make up as it provides a bit of normality and leaves me feeling slightly more put together!
2. Goals
If you are not able to work from home, then set yourself some goals. Create a blog, start a podcast or take an online course. Think of things that you can do that is a proactive way to fill this time, don't spend the day watching endless Netflix episodes - accomplish your goals!
3. Create a Work Space
Set up your laptop in another room and create a space that is dedicated to working. This will allow you to focus and feel like you are still going to work. Clean and tidy your environment for optimum productivity.
4. Move
Although it is still important to work and keep yourself busy at home, you now have the luxury of adapting your schedule to suit you so get up and move! Go for a walk or a run and be outdoors. Keeping fit and getting fresh air is going to be so important during the next few months so incorporate this in to your daily routine.
5. Boundaries
When it gets to 5pm, put your laptop away. Don't work until it's time for bed, give yourself time to wind down and relax. Take this time to call friends and family. Try a new recipe. Take a bath and have a glass of wine.
